Sue Wardle and Family

Sue Wardle and family established a bursary in memory of Gerry Wardle who passed away after a difficult battle with ALS in November 2014. Born in England, Gerry immigrated to Canada in 1967 at the age of 19 and settled in London where he trained as a truck mechanic at Fanshawe. He opened his own repair business, Gerry’s Truck Centre Ltd., in 1981.

Impact

The Gerry Wardle Bursary is awarded to a full-time student in year two of a Motive Power Technician (Diesel, Diesel (co-op) or Apprentice) program who demonstrates financial need. “Knowing how difficult it can be to attend school on a limited income, we decided to offer this bursary to assist those who might otherwise have to discontinue their courses,” says Sue Wardle. “It is our way of paying it forward in (Gerry’s) memory.”
