International Warehouse Logistics Association

The International Warehouse Logistics Association (IWLA), which has represented logistics operators since 1891, established a memorial award to honour the legacy of Reini Simonis. A graduate of Fanshawe’s Business Marketing program (1989), Simonis was the owner / president of London-based logistics and distribution management company, Simtech Supply Chain Management. Simonis grew the business from a modest five-person operation in 2005 to employ 70-plus people across Southwestern Ontario. He died in an accident in 2014. Over his short, but successful career, Simonis became a vocal champion for the professionals working in the rapidly evolving industry and the value of formal supply chain management education in Canada.

Impact

The Reini Simonis Memorial Award is presented to a full-time student in Fanshawe’s Logistics and Supply Chain Management program who, among other requirements, demonstrates leadership amongst his/her peers with a natural aptitude for mentoring others.
